1. Scope and provider

MatchQuest is a platform for hosted events in Berlin where people meet over a shared activity. The platform is operated by MatchQuest GmbH, Friedrichstraße 123, 10117 Berlin, Germany (“MatchQuest”, “we”).

These terms apply to all contracts between MatchQuest and people who use the platform as a guest (“guest”, “you”). Guests' own terms do not apply.

2. What MatchQuest offers

On MatchQuest you can find and book events, check in at the door, get guidance about your group during the event, and afterwards connect with people who chose you too.

Events are run by the host named on the event page; this can be MatchQuest itself. The contract to take part in an event is between you and that host. MatchQuest arranges this contract, provides the platform and collects payments in the host's name and for the host's account.

MatchQuest is not a matchmaking agency. We do not promise any particular acquaintance, friendship or relationship.

3. Account, minimum age and profile

You need an account to book. Signing up is free. When you sign up, a contract for using the platform is formed between you and MatchQuest.

  • You must be at least 18. Hosts can set narrower age limits for individual events.
  • One account per person. Accounts cannot be transferred.
  • Your details must be true. We use your date of birth and gender to check eligibility for events and to balance groups; they are never shown publicly.
  • Keep your login details secret and tell us if you suspect misuse.

4. Booking and conclusion of contract

An event listing is not yet a binding offer. Before you book, the booking page shows all key details: date, place, host, audience (for example women only, men only or mixed), age limit, what is included and the total price including VAT.

Before booking you confirm that you meet the age limit and agree to these terms and the code of conduct. For paid events you make a binding offer by clicking “Buy ticket” in the payment step; for free events by clicking “Reserve my place”. The contract is formed when we confirm the booking in the app and by email. For paid events, confirmation requires successful payment.

If an event is full you can join the waitlist. We tell you if a place opens up; you have no claim to a place.

Tickets are tied to your account and cannot be transferred. The check-in QR code is for you only.

5. Prices and payment

The price shown at booking applies. All prices are in euros and include VAT where applicable.

Payment is due when you book and is processed by our payment provider Stripe. Paying MatchQuest discharges your payment obligation towards the host.

6. No right of withdrawal

There is no statutory right of withdrawal for contracts for services related to leisure activities that are scheduled for a specific date or period (§ 312g (2) no. 9 German Civil Code, BGB). This applies to all events on MatchQuest.

You can still cancel your booking under section 7.

7. Cancellation by guests

  • Up to 48 hours before the event starts you can cancel your booking in the app free of charge and get the full price back.
  • After that, cancellation with a refund is no longer possible. Please still cancel if you can't come, so someone on the waitlist gets your place.
  • If you don't come and haven't cancelled, there is no refund.

Refunds go back to the payment method you used, usually within 5 to 10 working days.

8. Cancellation and changes by the host

The host can cancel an event, in particular if an announced minimum number of guests is not reached or for important reasons (for example illness, the venue becoming unavailable, orders by authorities). We then tell you as soon as possible and refund the full price.

Minor changes (such as a small shift in time or another table at the same venue) are allowed if they are reasonable for you. If the changes are significant, you can cancel free of charge.

If an event has to end early on site, we refund the price in part or in full unless you caused the early end.

9. At the event

You check in with the host using the QR code in your ticket. The app then shows your group or table, conversation prompts and any table changes. You can take a break or ask the host for help at any time.

Groups are formed automatically from all guests' details and the host's settings. There is no claim to a particular group or particular people.

The house rules of the host and the venue apply. Anyone who breaks the code of conduct can be asked to leave; there is no refund in that case.

10. Code of conduct and safety

When you book, you agree to our code of conduct. It applies at events and in all messages:

  • Be kind and respectful to everyone.
  • Ask before touching, and accept a no straight away.
  • No harassment, insults or pressure, in person or in messages.
  • Drink responsibly. Your host can ask anyone to leave.
  • Keep other guests' details private. No photos of people without asking.
  • If you feel unsafe, tell your host or report it in the app.

During the event your host is your safety contact. In an emergency call 110 (police) or 112 (ambulance and fire).

11. Connections and messages

After the event you can choose who you'd like to see again. A connection is only made when you both choose each other. One-sided choices stay private.

Once connected, you can exchange messages in MatchQuest. You can block and report people at any time.

12. Your content, reports and moderation

You are responsible for content you post (for example your photo, profile text, messages and ratings). It must not infringe others' rights or be unlawful. You grant MatchQuest a simple, free licence, limited to the life of your account, to store this content and show it to the intended people in order to run the platform.

You can report unlawful content or breaches of these terms at any time in the app or by email to hello@matchquest.com. We review reports promptly, carefully and objectively. If we remove content or restrict or suspend an account, we tell you why and how you can challenge the decision. You can complain about our decision within six months through our internal complaint process (hello@matchquest.com or the appeal form in the app). You can also turn to a certified out-of-court dispute settlement body under the Digital Services Act, or go to court.

Point of contact for authorities and users under Articles 11 and 12 of the Digital Services Act: hello@matchquest.com (German or English).

13. Term, termination and suspension

The contract for using the platform runs for an indefinite period. You can end it at any time by deleting your account in your privacy settings or by writing to us. You can cancel booked events beforehand under section 7.

MatchQuest can end the contract with 30 days' notice. The right to terminate for good cause is unaffected. For serious or repeated breaches of these terms or the code of conduct we can suspend your account temporarily or permanently, taking all circumstances into account, in particular how serious the breach is.

14. Liability

MatchQuest is liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, for injury to life, body or health, and under the German Product Liability Act.

For slight negligence we are only liable for breaches of essential contractual obligations, meaning obligations whose fulfilment makes proper performance of the contract possible in the first place and on which you may regularly rely. In that case liability is limited to the foreseeable damage typical for this kind of contract.

The host is responsible for running the event. MatchQuest is only liable for the conduct of other guests where we are at fault ourselves.

15. Changes to these terms

We may change these terms for the future if there is a good reason, such as new features or a change in the law. We tell you at least six weeks in advance by email or in the app and ask for your agreement. If you don't agree, the previous terms continue to apply; either side can then end the contract under section 13. Events you already booked stay under the terms that applied when you booked.

16. Consumer dispute resolution

MatchQuest is neither willing nor obliged to take part in dispute resolution proceedings before a consumer arbitration board (§ 36 VSBG). If you have a question or complaint, please write to us directly at hello@matchquest.com.

17. Final provisions

German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. If you live in another country, the mandatory consumer protection rules of that country remain unaffected.

These terms exist in German and English. If they differ, the German version applies.

If a provision is invalid, the rest of the contract remains valid.
